Hi! My name is Marc. I have been studying martial arts for many years. I started when I was 4 and on and off through the years I took many different systems on and off throughout the years and finally dived full on into martial arts in high school. Through out college I was lucky enough to find very good teachers who taught me amazing, rare and effective systems. I moved to New York to learn Chinese Medicine and one of my teachers noticed I liked martial arts and told me about a class she was part of in chinatown for filipino stick and knife fighting. So I came down to check it out and was hooked. I find the system that is taught there, SinaTirsiWali Kali, to be exceptional. It allows me to move freely with other people while still maintaining the combat aspect. Many martial arts I have studied often lose the combat aspect to more rhythmic dances which they pose between opponents. SinaTirsiaWali is a system which easily moves in rhythm while not losing its ability to fight and ward off opponents effectively.
In fact it's effectiveness increases and combat applications become more applicable in areas that other systems tend to fall apart in. The realism it offers is a nice wake up call to many martial artists who have fallen into the rut of staged combat or "organized dispair". Mas Guru Dennis Ocampo often comes to teach our class. With his vast knowledge and experience of SinaTirsiaWali, he easily breaks down fundamentals so that they can easily be applied whether it is your first time using sticks or you have done it before. His techniques and ques help a person to excel in a realistic manner to deal with actual encounters with bladed weapons or blunt objects. He makes it fun too. You can see yourself improving by just listening to a single tip or two which he gives you as he watches you preform single and partner drills. Today I practice everyday and am glad that I have had the oppurtunity to learn SinaTirsiaWali Kali from Mas Guru Dennis Ocampo

There are no such things as coincidences in life. I know that now after training with both Mas Guru Greg Alland and Mas Guru Dennis Ocampo. After accidentally taking a side street I normally don't take I stumbled across something I had never seen before. A form of combat that was both effective and necessary. After inquiring about this art I enrolled the next day. From that day on not only did I learn how to move, think, and feel; I also learned that I am capable of much more than I ever thought possible. Life after that has never been the same. I now walk with great confidence and no fear of what may happen. For that I am forever grateful to my Mas Guru's. And as I mentioned, there are no such things as coincidences, only the inevitable. And after training in SinaTirsiaWali Kali becoming more than you ever thought possible is inevitable.

When I sought out KaliSilat after viewing MasGuru Greg Alland in an old single stick form video on the internet many years ago, it was simply to hone and sharpen my rusty stick fighting skills. When I heard he was living and training in New York, I was delighted to finally meet and train with him. Although I would have to leave my house at 6 AM and travel 95 miles each way from Pennsylvania for classes, I did not hesitate at the opportunity. Needless to say, the long trip was well worth it. What I ended up finding was much more than a refresher course. What I discovered was an art, a way, a system of techniques that have been fine tuned after years of application and experimentation with trial, error and common sense. I want to thank you for your recent intensive training seminar in Virginia Beach. It was an honor and a privilege to be under your instruction. Your friendly, open, and enthusiastic manner helped all of us to relax, and also focus on the work to do. You shared a lot of material and I must have seemed slow in following, but, I do try to retain the information, and I promise. (I rarely promise, and never lightly) to work on and develop the knowledge, skills, and concepts, you so graciously shared. I also look forward to visiting you more often for "fine tuning" and have my progress and development checked. Keep me on the list for information on the training trip to the Philippines next year, with enough lead time I might be able to swing it.

You know, I have seen where lots of people constantly put you down, I don't understand why that is. I think anyone who met you will at least agree that you are a well skilled martial artist Greg. I would have to think its jealousy.
Have you considered just doing a school? Most people don't have the dedication to do anything with seminar knowledge, but to just move on to do their own seminars or make videos. I believe if you had a full time school it would be more fulfilling and you would develop your best students that way. I think you have a lot of knowledge to pass, and most of the people with money don't deserve it, they should earn it by committing themselves to be a student to you. After all, you did dedicated years to Leo Gaje, Jr.
Right? Its only fair to you that a student gives you the same respect. Right now I believe many of the people who badmouth you have purchase your tapes, and learned from you, now they challenged you. Another teacher told me, it's the nature of the business. But my answer is, it must be the wrong business. Your name is already popular, I would love to see you open a school, and let students come and travel to you for a change.

We went to Jason's up in Jefferson City. It was great! This
past weekend Jason came to West Plains and brought 8 students we had 10.
It was great to be able to share and learn with so many.
I went to your website and noticed your putting out a new DVD.
I purchased your complete set in March of this year. I would like
to prepay for the "all the drills I know". I just need to know
the cost. I thank you for your dedication and sharing. After meeting
you (and getting his but kick) Kip completely changed the way he

I came from the Topeka group (the rhetoric and philosophy student) and was quite impressed with the whole thing. There are not many opportunities for quality training up here (I was lucky to find the Kempo/Modern Arnis school and even there we do not do stick work as nearly as I'd like). I look forward to chatting more in depth in the near future. My students spoke very highly of you, and I am very happy that their experience with another Guru outside of our paradigm, i.e. SEACA System was very positive. We have also had positive experiences with the Bahalana "Players."
Kali and Silat are very beautiful "Paths" and Im thankful that I began that road years ago. I teach in Secondary ED. so that I can support my love for Kali and Silat, I like to call it the "Elok de Ka-ilat," being the Beauty Way of KALI SILAT. Greg Alland is a gifted Kali-man and Guru. I have one of his very first videos from years back when he was in the P.I. and I really enjoy his moves and excitement he has for Kali.
You come from a great system and I am sure your travels have exposed you to others. I have become weary about "stick" systems and all of the extraneous baggage they bring to the weapon arts. My first Guru's and Pendakar Akal's taught me with blades, or heavy woods shaped into blades. I never had Rattan in my hand until 1983, given to me by a Balintawak Player, Master Sam Buot. He was quite incredulous when he saw what we were using.
Keep the spirit alive, myself and the older men of the KALI SILAT Way delight in, and live to see our young fruit bring forth their own fruit. May your weapons always be rust free.

Masguru Greg sells a video that teaches Dekiti Tirsia Siradas. With Grand Master Nene Tortal himself, demonstrating the style. "I was standing ten feet away from Tuhon Nene Tortal in Chicago when he said that Greg was a master of this style, and thanked him for bringing Dekiti Tirsia Siradas to America.
Masguru Greg founded SinaTirsiaWali, which is a concept more than a system, in which traditional styles can be expressed in a way unique to each practitioner. He does not sell any tapes on SinaTirsiaWali (as far as I know), but it may be that you are confusing his tapes on Pekiti Tirsia, which is incorporated within SinaTirsiaWali. He learned the early version of Pekiti Tirsia which focused on the original 64 strikes, from Master Leo Gaje. I don't believe Master Leo teaches this version any longer. I won't be responding further publicly, since I have too much respect for kali and Masguru Greg to contribute to a negative debate. But for the record, I consider Masguru Greg to be a superior martial artist and an enlightened individual."
